2025 Pickleball Courts Construction by the Grass Valley Pickleball Club

In the summer of 2024 the Grass Valley Pickleball Club made a proposal to the Western Gateway Recreation & Park District's Board of Directors to renovate the very dilapidated old tennis courts into pickleball courts. After months of discussions and negotiations, the board granted approval and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed. The GV Pickleball Club board members then took the finalized proposal to their members for a vote in January 2025.

The club spent approximately $69,000 of their own funds as well as tens of thousands of dollars in their own labor to construct the beautiful new courts. The park paid for the resurfacing of the parking lot, adding additional parking spaces.  Once the courts were completed, Art Deleon, president of the pickleball club, had the honor of hitting the first ball. The grand opening took place on June 21, 2025

The addition is expected to not only benefit the park and the club, but the surrounding Penn Valley community as well, as players patronize local businesses.

The club is offering free lessons to community members.

The club took many progress pictures documenting the renovation.
